Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators are medications injected into a muscle to weaken its movement. The result is that the overlying skin appears smoother. This helps with fine lines, wrinkles, and your overall glow. Think of sleeping under the sheets at night. If you're tossing and turning all night, the overlying sheets get tousled and wrinkled. If you lie more still and flat, however, the overlying sheet remains smoother.

There are several neuromodulators currently on the market - Botox, Dysport, Daxxify, Xeomin, etc - and all vary slightly in their chemical composition and time to effect.

Ideal Candidates

Neuromodulators are ideal for patients looking for improvement in the lines of their face - both at rest and with movement. They also help with overall skin texture, appearance, and glow. Most patients see visible improvements in their appearance within a few days after their procedure and the results typically last for three to four months.

Procedure

Injections are administered in one of our private exam rooms. Prior to treatment, we take photographs of your starting point, discuss your specific areas of concern, and map out a treatment plan. There's no cookie cutter approach to neuromodulator dosing - each patient is a little different in their anatomy and what they want. We typically apply a numbing cream, allow it to sit for 20 minutes, and then perform the injections via several small needle sticks.

After Neuromodulators

After you receive neuromodulator injections, we want that medication to stay in the muscle groups we injected. We don't want it traveling to neighboring areas. So we ask that you avoid exercise and strenuous activity for the remainder of the day.

What’s the difference between Dysport and Botox?

Both Dysport and Botox are cosmetic injections to improve dynamic and static facial wrinkles. Dysport results generally become visible faster than Botox. During your consultation, your injector will help you understand if Dysport or another neuromodulator is best for your treatment.

How is Daxxify different than the others?

Daxxify is the only FDA approved neuromodulator shown to last an average of 6 months. While older medications, like Botox and Dysport, typically last 3+ months. Daxxify is a “stickier” molecule that works similarly to Botox but sticks to its receptor for a longer period before being metabolized by your body.

Should I get a neuromodulator or filler?

Simply put, a neuromodulator (like Botox, Daxxify, Dysport) addresses dynamic and static lines while a filler provides volume. During your initial consultation, we will discuss your concerns and goals and help you determine whether a neuromodulator, a filler, or both will produce your best results.

Can these be combined with other treatments?

We offer a number of aesthetic treatments that can be used to boost the results of your injections. Depending on your areas of concern and goals, your custom treatment plan may include neuromodulator injections for dynamic wrinkles, a filler for volume, microneedling for skin texture, and skincare for hyperpigmentation.

How often should I get injections?

Neuromodulator results typically last 3-6 months. Filler typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on the area that’s treated.

How Much Do Neuromodulators Cost?

The total cost will depend on the product you select and the amount required for your treatment. During your initial consultation, we will create your unique treatment plan and then offer a cost estimate.
